Is the AgeWell Health
Assessment for you?
What is the AgeWell Health Assessment?
As we age, the importance of maintaining mobility, strength and balance becomes increasingly important for a healthy, independent life. When the healthcare system fails to control increasing chronic conditions, we are prepared to step in.
The Age Well Musculoskeletal Health Assessment is a proactive early intervention program at Alta Health, encouraging longevity within our community. It involves a Strength Test, Balance Test, Range of Motion/Flexibility Test and Functional Performance Test.
What is involved in the AgeWell Health Assessment?
First Session – A one-on-one consultation with an experienced physiotherapist.
  • Questionnaire to identify your goals and areas of concern
  • AgeWell Musculoskeletal Health Assessment using state of the art VALD equipment, that is used in elite sports around the world (such as the English Premier League and NBA) and universities for research
    • Strength Testing – Measure key muscle groups in both the upper and lower limbs. We can identify imbalances between muscle groups, asymmetries between sides and general weaknesses compared to others your age and gender
    • Balance Testing – Identify your stability and fall risks
    • Range of Motion / Mobility Testing – Assess joint flexibility in your spine, shoulders, hips and knees
    • Movement Technique Analysis – Evaluate how you perform essential movements such as squats, lunges and standing from a chair
Second Session – Going over a detailed report and developing a program for you.
  1. Your Personalised Report & Plan
Following your assessment, you’ll receive a detailed and easy-to-understand individualised report, including:
    • A summary of your results across balance, strength, mobility, and function
    • A comparison with age-related normative values
    • Our physiotherapists’ professional insights and recommendations
    • A shareable summary to take to your GP or other health professionals
  2. Your Tailored Exercise Program
    • Based on your results, we’ll prescribe a tailored exercise program designed for your needs.
    • Improve strength and reduce muscle loss
    • Enhance flexibility and joint mobility
    • Boost balance and stability to reduce fall risk
    • Maintain independence in everyday activities
Third Session – Reviewing your progress.

Sessions 1 and 2 allow us to identify your baseline level.

We highly recommend that you complete a follow up reassessment in 3–6 months. This will allow us to review your progress, update your program and answer any questions you may have!
